SINGING LESSONS
Become vocally confident with singing lessons
For nearly two decades, I have been teaching singers of all abilities, singing all types of music to become more confident technically and to explore new repertoire and styles. I offer vocal training and advice to singers on all types of repertoire in a relaxed atmosphere.
All singers benefit from being confident technically and I will teach you to breathe, stand and sing naturally, using the full potential of your voice.
For beginners I offer musical grounding as well as vocal technique and repertoire advice, and many professional singers come for session and audition preparation, advice on harmonising and performance practise.
As a trained classical singer and teacher (MA at the Academy of Music in Gothenburg, Sweden), I also specialise in coaching the best out of the classical voice, using the Bel Canto method, practised by most established classical vocal teachers and opera singers throughout the world. I have continued working as a soprano soloist, voice coach and in the music industry. I’m also a frequently hired choral voice coach, specialising in workshops for groups of singers.
So, whether it’s classical, jazz, pop, rock or R’n’B you enjoy singing, you will benefit from the vocal confidence individual singing lessons will give you.
Vocal Technique
For well-trained and naturally technically gifted singers it all appears so easy, but for many singers, not having had solid technical vocal training can cause problems. The voice can get tired and the high notes seem impossible to get.
In my sessions, you will learn how to relax tense muscles to allow sound and air to flow naturally. I also give your vocal support systems in your back and abdomen a workout and we work on agility and flexibility to increase your voice’s range and colour.
Choristers
Singing in a choir is a great experience, but you may want to explore or re-discover what it’s like to sing solo.
Blending in with a group and singing solo are two quite different approaches. In my lessons, we look out for bad habits and find suitable repertoire and vocal exercises. “Rusty” voices can soon be dusted off. We’ll check all the basics are there and get back to enjoying singing again!
Repertoire
Anything you enjoy from Classical to R’n’B. I will try to help you find pieces and styles which will suit your voice and also challenge it technically. We will listen to pieces, sing and discover together and work on phrasing, interpretation and expanding your vocal range.
